Mistakes were made ...

... but not by me.
I wish I had come up with that one, but it’s actually the title of the audiobook I’m currently listening to. Talks about how the need to reduce cognitive dissonance forces us to invent new realities in our heads to suit new contradictory information washing over us from reality.
Makes me think of the current inability of Swedish train companies to provide the transport people have paid for. Whenever they are asked why they mumble something about mistakes having been made, or circumstances outside their control. “Why, I’m the highly successful CEO of Sweden’s largest transport service provider. It makes no sense that the trains I’m responsible for aren’t running. Something else must be at work here.”
Being a masochist, I have recently booked a 16-hour trip from Kiruna to Stockholm in two weeks. Wish me luck!
